New Coordinator of Catholic News Agency of Africa appointed
The Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Catholic News Agency of Africa, Archbishop Palmer Buckle of Accra in Ghana, who is also the Treasurer of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar or SECAM, has appointed Fr. Bosco Ochieng Onyalla of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek in South Sudan to coordinate the setting up of this continental news agency in Nairobi, Kenya, where its Headquarters will be situated. Fr. Ochieng is also charged with the responsibility of establishing and maintaining contacts with other Catholic media of communication in Africa and elsewhere, and reaching out to potential partners to support the activities of this new communication initiative. Plans to start an African Catholic News Agency started in 2010, with conferences organized by various catholic communicators in various Africa countries. The idea matured slowly until the formation of the Board of Directors last year.
