Pope Francis calls upon Catholics to learn from the new Saints
Pope Francis canonized 800 Martyrs from the Italian city of Otranto, along with Laura Montoya from Colombia and Maria Guadalupe Garcia Zavala, from Mexico. The 800 Martyrs were lay men. They were beheaded in the 15th century by the Ottoman Turk Moslems for refusing to convert to Islam. Laura Montoya was a religious nun. She founded the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary Immaculate and of St. Catherine of Siena. Maria Guadalupe Garcia Zavala, was also a religious nun. She was co-founder of the Congregation of the Handmaids of St. Margaret Mary. Christopher Wells reports.
