Catholic Bishops Conference of India organises Congress for lay Catechists to mark year of the Faith

The Bishops of India have organized a congress of catechists on the occasion of the year of the faith. The Archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, His Grace John Barwa, told Fides Catholic News Agency that the congress for the Regional Conference of the Bishops of Orissa will be held from 12th to 14th October this year. He said the purpose is to strengthen the role of lay catechists as agents of evangelization. The event will be the first of its kind and the organisers expect the participation of 400 catechists. Archbishop Barwa said it will be an occasion for the local Church to recognize and thank the catechists for their work and to motivate them to continue this work. The Congress will dedicate sessions on the techniques, tools, challenges, new trends and methods of evangelization, and sharing the faith and experience.
