The Catholic Church is not a Non-Governmental Organisation, says Pope Francis

Pope Francis celebrated Holy Mass on Tuesday morning at the Chapel of St. Martha here in the Vatican and invited the faithful to be generous and simple in the spreading of the gospel message. He said the Church does not need to be rich to carry out its mission in the world and should not be attached to money. Quoting from the gospel he said the church received the gospel free from Christ and should spread it free for the salvation of mankind. He explained that the purpose of evangelisation is to lead man to God’s kingdom. The Kingdom of God is a free gift. The Pope stressed that the Catholic Church is not a Non-governmental Organisation, but an instrument of God in the salvation of mankind. The Mass was attended by the staff of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
