Pope Francis issues a Motu Proprio on Criminal Matters in the Vatican City State and the Holy See
Pope Francis on Thursday issued an apostolic Letter or a Motu Proprio on the jurisdiction of the juridical authorities of the Vatican City State in Criminal matters. This motu proprio makes criminal law adopted by the Pontifical commission for the Vatican City State applicable alos within the Holy See. The criminal laws adopted on Thursday is a continuation of the efforts to update the Vatican City State’s legal system and builds upon the measures adopted since 2010 during the pontificate of Benedict XVI. The only difference is that these laws take on a broader scope by incorporating into the Vatican legal system the provisions of numerous international conventions.Chris Altieri tells us more.
