Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops' Conference to deploy Election Observers in remote areas of the country

As Zimbabweans prepare for the general elections scheduled for 31st this month, the Catholic Bishops Conference there has said it will deploy 2400 observers at polling stations especially in remote areas where observers usually don’t go. At the weekend, the head of the conference’s Justice and Peace Commission, Arkmore Kori, appealed to the people to go to vote and to vote in a peaceful manner, taking into account the fact that the choice of leaders is part of the pastoral responsibility of every Christian. The campaigns for presidential and parliamentary elections begun last week. President Robert Mugabe is running for the office of president on the ticket of the ZANU-PF party while Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is running for the same office on the ticket of the Movement for Democratic Change party.
