Pope Francis celebrates Wednesday Holy Mass with Jesuits
Breaking off from his well-deserved break after his historic visit to the WYD in Brazil, Pope Francis Marked the 31 July feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola by celebrating Holy Mass in the morning with the Jesuits. St Ignatius Loyola is the founder of the Society of Jesus also known as the Jesuits, the order to which the Holy father belongs. The Mass was celebrated in the Jesuits Mother Church here in Rome which is known only by the name of the Gesu. Fr. Bernd Hagenkord is the director of Vatican radio’s Germany programme and was one of the Jesuits that took part in the Holy Mass. Speaking with Linda Bordoni, he described the experience of the mass with the pope as a fantastic one.
