Pope’s letter of thanks to the Brazilian Church for WYD 2013

Vatican City, 17 August 2013: "I keep indelible in my mind and heart the images of that intense liturgical assembly and the festive crowd. In spite of the cold and rain, they wanted to accompany me on my pilgrimage to Aparecida’, wrote Pope Francis in his letter of thanks to the Brazilian church, addressed to the Archbishop of Aparecida and Chairman of the Brazilian Episcopate Cardinal Raymundo Damasceno Assis. The letter dated 2nd August and released by the Vatican on Saturday, renewed his gratitude for the affection he received and for the 'reception on the occasion of his pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida.
‘No doubt it was also an opportunity to relive the beautiful memories of my stay at the Sanctuary, during the Fifth Conference of the Latin American and the Caribbean’, says the Pontiff in his letter.

After words of affection and veneration of the Mother of all Americans and every Brazilian, Pope Francis asked Cardinal Raymundo Damasceno Assis, President of the CNBB to convey his appreciation and gratitude to the Bishops of Brazil, to all the parish priests, pastors, and church movements, for the care they have taken and effort they have put into the preparation and conduct of World Youth Day.

Pope Francis in his letter expresses his hope that the Church in Brazil and hopes that the seeds sown allow the flourishing of a new springtime for the Church in this beloved nation. He concluded the letter of thanks by invoking the intercession of Our Lady of Aparecida and imparting to all a special Apostolic Blessing with the renewed request to pray for him.
