Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation organising Marian Day in October
The Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization has announced that it is organising a Marian day with the theme: Blessed are you for Believing. The event will take place in the Vatican on 12th and 13th October this year as a part of the celebrations of the Year of Faith, and will coincide with the anniversary of the last apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Fatima, in Portugal. It was on October 13th, 1917 when Our Lady appeared for the sixth and last time to the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. In memory of this date, the original statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be brought to St. Peter's Square and exposed for veneration by the faithful. Pope Francis will play an active part in the event. He is scheduled to welcome the statue, to deliver a talk to the pilgrims about the Blessed Virgin Mary and to preside over the closing Mass on Sunday October 13th at St. Peter’s square in the morning.
