Pope Francis scheduled to visit Jesuit Refuge Centre in Rome in Second Week of September
Reports from the Jesuit Refuge Service say on September 10th Pope Francis will visit the Centre Astalli in Rome where he will meet with the refugees. The Centre was established 13 years ago by the Jesuits to offer assistance to refugees and to promote interreligious and intercultural dialogue and awareness. It welcomes all refugees irrespective of their places of origin and religious background and offers the free showers and one meal each day. It, in addition, helps them to get permits of stay in Italy and to find jobs and accommodation. Pope Francis was invited in April this year by the Director, Fr. Giovanni La Manna, to visit the centre. The organisers said the Pope will meet with the refugees in private. The heads of the centre are scheduled to meet Vatican officials next week to plan the visit.
