Moslem and Christian Religious Leaders in Egypt speak out against plans by US president Obama to invade Syria
Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt, Pope Tawadros II, has expressed opposition to the planned American and French military intervention in Syria. In a message released on Monday, he said the planned Franco-American intervention would kill many people and complicated further the lives of an already suffering population. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Egypt, Ahmed al-Tayyeb has also renewed his appeal against the intervention saying it will constitute a breach to the international laws and norms and would create more suffering that it claims to solve. He condemned the use of Chemical weapons by any party in the Syrian conflict and noted that it is a crime against humanity.
