Pope concelebrates Mass with Council of Cardinals

Pope Francis concelebrated Mass on Tuesday morning at the Santa Marta residence in the Vatican with members of the Council of Cardinals he appointed to advise him in the governance of the Church. The Holy Father is meeting with the group of 8 Cardinals from Tuesday through Thursday of this week. In comments during the mass, the Pope expressed his hope that the meeting would help everyone become more humble and more trusting in God, so that the Church might be able to give a beautiful witness to the people. In his homily on the day’s gospel reading in which Jesus rebuked the two Apostles that wanted to call down fire from heaven upon those who would not accept them, the Pope said the way of the Christian is not a path of vengeance but it is the way of humility and of meekness.
