Local Christians deplore indifference following Pakistani church bombing

October 22, 2013: Christians in Peshawar, a city of 3.6 million in northern Pakistan, are lamenting the indifference shown by civil leaders and the international community to the plight of victims of a September 22 church bombing. The incident left 126 dead and 166 injured.

Referring to a 13-year-old victim, local Christians said in an appeal, “For how long and why is an NGO [non-governmental organization] having to treat Kashmala,” the Fides news agency reported. “Where is justice? Why are the government of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government totally ignoring the victims of the massacre? Why does the international community not offer an intervention for this child?”
