Guinea has a new Apostolic Nuncio

Pope Francis has named Archbishop Santo Gangemi as Apostolic Nuncio in Guinea Conakry. The titular archbishop of Umbriatico has been serving as apostolic nuncio in the south pacific island nation of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. The nunciauture in Guinea has been vacant since the former nuncio, Archbishop Martin Krebs was named apostolic nuncio to New Zealand and other neighboring islands in May this year. Archbishop Gangemi was born on 16 August 1961 in Messina, Italy. He was ordained a priest on 28 June 1986. The Apostolic Nunciature of Guinea was first established as an Apostolic Delegation in 1973 and elevated to a nunciature in 1987.
