Pope welcomes South Korea’s new ambassador



December 16, 2013 - Pope Francis on Monday welcomed to the Vatican South Korea’s new ambassador to the Holy See, Francis Kyung-surk Kim. At a formal ceremony in the Vatican the POpe accepted the credentials of the diplomat, starting his mission to the Holy See. The 65-year old father of two children began his career as diplomat as an official at the foreign ministry in 1984 following which he served as first secretary at South Korea’s embassy to Italy. He was also director of foreign missions at the foreign ministry. Among others the Pope received on Monday was Archbishop Jan Romeo Pawlowski, the Holy See’s Apostolic Nuncio to Cong-Brazzaville and Gabon.
