Pope Francis tells Religious Orders to "Wake up the World"

“wake up the world”, This is the request of Pope Francis to people in religious orders. This call by the holy father came to light thanks to an article that appeared in La Civiltà Cattolica, a Rome-based Jesuit weekly. The story is based on the of the magazine, Editor Antonio Spadaro, SJ, who has written an account of the private meeting last November between Pope Francis and the Union of Superiors General of religious men at the end of their 82nd General Assembly here in Rome. The 15-page article, which is also available in English at the La Civiltà Cattolica website, documents the views of Pope Francis on religious life, and his exhortation to the religious to “Wake up the world! To Be witnesses of a different way of doing things, of acting, of living! The author quotes pope Francis as saying that “it is possible to live differently in this world, by being living witnesses of the values of the Kingdom incarnated here on earth. He said since Evangelical radicalness is not only for religious, but something demanded of all, Religious should be men and women who are able to wake the world up.”
Antonio Spadaro’s article also revealed that the holy father has asked the Congregation for Religious to revise the Mutuae Relationes, which he said was outdated. The Mutuae Relationes is the 1978 instruction issued by the Congregation for Religious and by the Congregation for Bishops, concerning the relations between bishops and the religious in the Church.
