Holy See signs Agreement with the Republic of Cameroon



The Holy See and the Republic of Cameroon signed an Agreement on Monday January 13th 2014, on the juridical status of the Catholic Church in the country. The agreement was signed in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé. Cameroon’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pierre Moukoko Mbondjo, signed on behalf of the Republic of Cameroon while, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Cameroon, Archbishop Piero Pioppo, signed on behalf of the Holy See. The agreement entered into force on Monday after signing, and outlines the relationship between the Church and the state, showing them as independent and autonomous of each other, but committed to work together for the moral, spiritual and material wellbeing of the human person and for the promotion of the common good.
