Cardinal Tagle urges laity to renew society

Feb.05,20114: The Catholic laity in the Philippines have been set up a few tasks by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila. They have been asked to bring the examples and teachings of the Gospel in everyday life of the nation, in order to actively participate in the " sanctification " of the world. The tasks were given by Cardinal Tagle at the first General Assembly of the Archdiocese of Manila ministry ( Magpas ) in 2014. The cardinal has strongly emphasized the distinctive feature of the laity, which allows them to transform the world "from within" . Their mission, he adds, is seeking the Kingdom of God by engaging "in temporal affairs and ordering them according to the plan of God, not by distancing or escaping from them." The reference is to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, which emphasized the strong call to conversion and the work of the laity in the various sectors in which they operate in everyday life: politics, economy, science, technology , and communications.
The prelate called on the faithful to avoid being engaged in corrupt-ridden institutions and to "involve themselves more deeply and to lead to goodness individuals who have been eaten by the system. Quoting Vatican II, Cardinal Tagle stressed that the laity must enter from within to clean the corrupt system as their work should be to transform and renew society.
