Bishops of Angola and Sao Tome and Principe express concerns about Catholic Movements in the Region

The Catholic Bishops of Angola and Sao Tome and Principe concluded their plenary Assembly on Saturday in the city of Sao Tome. A statement released after the meeting said they discussed among other things, how to revive faith in Christ in the lay faithful. They expressed concern over the multiplication of catholic movements in the region which they said were getting out of control. They reminded the movements that they are formed taking into account the Magisterium of the Church and with the explicit approval of the local Ordinary, in order to strengthen the spirit of communion. The statement called upon the faithful to work for the self- sustenance of the Church and to pray for the success of the First National Eucharistic Congress scheduled for 2016 to celebrate the second phase of the evangelization of Angola.
