Pope Francis receives the President of Angola



On Friday Pope Francis received in audience the President of the Republic of Angola, Mr José Eduardo dos Santos. A statement released by the Holy See Press office after the meeting said the two held cordial discussions which focussed on the good relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Angola. Mention was made of the planned bilateral Agreement regarding the legal state of the Catholic Church in the country. Reference was also made to the contribution of the Catholic Church to the country through its educational and healthcare institutions. Finally, the two leaders exchanged views on the various challenges relating to the Country and the Region, especially efforts against poverty and social inequalities, as well as reconciliation, justice and peace and regional conflicts.
